​North Level District Internal Drainage Board Appoints Jamie Hemming as Chief Executive Officer

Jamie joins the organisation at a pivotal time, bringing more than 20 years of leadership experience across marine operations, ports, infrastructure and regulatory environments in both the UK and the United States.

Based in the heart of the Fenlands, North Level District Internal Drainage Board plays a vital role in water level management, helping to protect communities, businesses and agricultural land across the region. As the organisation looks ahead to the challenges and opportunities presented by climate change and water resource management, securing the right leadership was a critical priority.

Following the announcement of long-serving CEO Paul Sharman's retirement after 38 years with the organisation, the Board engaged MorePeople Executive Search to lead a retained search process for his successor.

Welcoming Jamie Hemming

Jamie brings extensive experience leading operational teams and managing critical infrastructure. Earlier in his career, he worked in the Fenland area, progressing into senior leadership positions including Harbour Master and Head of Marine Services.

Most recently, Jamie spent three years in the United States with Canal Barge Company, where he supported the senior leadership team and oversaw marine operations in the Chicago area.

Speaking about his appointment, Jamie said:
