We are working with one of the leading businesses in their field who are currently looking at how they can expand their overall offering to a broader market, either with existing products or to go and look for other sectors that they can get involved. They are keeping a very open mind as to the level of experience that someone has coming into this role, but what they must have is real drive to go and seek out new opportunities and bring them back to the business. This could be done by reviewing consumer trends, researching new uses of products or identifying possible products which they could start to work with. The business operates on some long timescales so they understand that this won't happen overnight.
As outlined above, you will be responsible for delivering growth within the business, whether this is immediate or through a pipeline of activity that takes more work to achieve.
You will get out of this role, what you put in. You will be working under your own steam and drive to identify the opportunities and explore how best to make them work for the business.
Working closely with the internal teams you will additionally be their eyes and ears and be feeding back anything relevant to the business.
The most important thing for this role is curiosity and inquisitiveness. You will need to examine and explore a number of avenues whether this is analysing consumer trends, speaking to current customers to explore new products or identifying this through general research.
A background / affinity with agriculture or horticulture would be a great basis to grow this role but they are very open minded as to what experience level you come in at. There is room to grow for the right person and this role will take some time to start to bear fruit.
Due to the longer term nature of what the businesses does, this role will suit someone who has patience and isn't looking for things to happen immediately all the time.
I believe, for the right person, that this role could be very exciting and rewarding for someone who is looking for something with good levels of autonomy, that is a bit different to the norm and with a business that has a long history of supporting and developing its people.
