Business Unit Director
Job description
Business Unit Director
This is more than a farming leadership role. It is an opportunity to take full ownership of a significant business unit, lead across multiple functions, shape long-term strategy, and have a direct impact on the future of one of the most respected fresh produce businesses.
If you're currently leading a major operational, production, growing, agricultural, horticultural, or commercial function and are looking for a broader remit, full P&L responsibility, greater influence, and the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy, this could be the career-defining move you've been waiting for.
You'll join a successful family-owned business that invests in its people, embraces innovation, and takes a long-term approach to growth. You'll have the platform, autonomy, and support to make meaningful decisions and drive real change.
You will join a family business with a passion for fresh produce. Operating across international markets, the business grows, sources, markets, and distributes premium fruit and vegetables. Their success is built on strong partnerships, innovation, sustainability, and the dedication of their people.
As Business Unit Director, you will lead their farming operations, taking accountability for the financial, operational, strategic, and people performance of the business unit.
This is a highly visible leadership position with responsibility for developing and delivering the long-term strategy while ensuring day-to-day operations perform to best-in-class standards.
You will work across multiple disciplines, balancing commercial priorities with operational excellence, people leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
We're looking for a commercially minded and inspirational leader who combines strategic thinking with operational credibility.
You will likely bring:
- Significant leadership experience within horticulture, farming, agriculture, fresh produce, or a related sector.
- Experience managing large-scale farming or growing operations.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience influencing or owning business performance.
- The ability to lead multifunctional teams and deliver results through others.
- Experience leading transformation, change, or continuous improvement programmes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A hands-on, agile leadership style with a passion for developing people.

If you're an ambitious leader looking to broaden your remit, take ownership of a substantial business, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a leading fresh produce organisation, we'd love to hear from you.Apply today or contact me for a confidential conversation about how this opportunity could accelerate your career on 01780 480 530 or tom@morepeople.co.uk
