About Our Client

Our client is a leading brand in the ornamental horticulture and garden leisure sectors. They supply a fantastic, diverse range of products, which are known for their quality in the market. They are a well-established business that is going through a period of rapid growth. They have invested in their facilities to enable further growth and improve the service that they offer their customers. The business works with select nurseries and growers to ensure the best quality of plants for their customers. The team is made up of a mixture of passionate horticulturists as well as experts in consumer insights, analytics, e-commerce etc. They have a grown-up policy when it comes to remote working and offer a great option for a work-life balance working from the office x3 days a week.

About the Role
This role will lead a buying team across plant categories, whilst also doing the day-to-day buying for your own category. You will build long-term relationships with growers and nurseries to continue to offer new and exciting ranges that have been carefully selected and tested to ensure quality and customer satisfaction. You will be comfortable being hands-on with your range of products and suppliers as well as guiding your team members for them to deliver results across the wider plant range. You will work closely with the Head of Buying and supply chain teams to develop forecasts and deliver for consumers.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong plant and horticulture background in a buying and people management capacity. You will have a proven track record as a buyer or buying manager in the horti sector. You will be able to build long term relationships with suppliers and develop high-quality product ranges which add value to consumers and generate sales. You will ideally be a proven people manager, but the role would also suit a senior buyer stepping up to take more people responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, as a minimum, you will need to possess exceptional plant and horticulture knowledge and have a proven track record in a buying role. You will need to have excellent communication skills and possess a team performance focus over the individual.
