Multi Skilled Engineer

Job description

Location: Kent
Salary: Competitive
Contract: Permanent

I'm currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer on behalf of a well-established name in fresh produce manufacturing. This is a business that supplies major UK retailers and has built a strong reputation for quality and reliability in the sector.

What you'll be doing:

  • Reactive and planned maintenance across production and packing lines
  • Fault-finding and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Supporting engineering colleagues to keep the site running at pace during a live production shift
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of plant reliability

What they're looking for:

  • A recognised engineering qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent) in mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled maintenance
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or food production environment (FMCG, fresh produce, or similar is a strong plus)
  • Comfortable working to a fixed shift pattern including Sundays
  • A hands-on, practical problem-solver who works well under pressure

Why this one's worth a look:

Fresh produce and food manufacturing has become genuinely competitive on pay over the last year or so, and this is one of the stronger rates I'm seeing in the region right now. Beyond the money, it's a site with a stable, established engineering team and a business that's investing in its people - not just a name that's paying to plug a gap.

If you're an engineer weighing up salary against hours, or just want to understand how the two shift patterns actually compare in take-home terms, get in touch and I'll talk you through it properly before you commit to anything.
