Accountant

Are you an ambitious finance professional looking to take the next step in your career? Our client is seeking a Junior Accountant to join a small, collaborative finance team within a food manufacturing environment. This role offers hands on exposure to the business, with a strong focus on costing, yield analysis, and operational finance.

They are looking for a finance professional with a solid background in food manufacturing and some experience or exposure to cost accounting, with a keen interest in understanding how finance drives operational performance.

Main Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for preparing, developing, and analysing Cost and Yield accounts
• Identify root causes of variances and discrepancies, and lead the end-to-end costing and reporting process
• Calculate and analyse daily operational variances
• Prepare cost reporting for labour, packaging, and distribution
• Perform stock reconciliations and investigate variances
• Maintain and review product costings
• Identify opportunities for profit and margin improvement
• Ensure new products are set up correctly to accurately measure all key direct costs
• Work closely with operations and production teams to improve costing accuracy and insight.

Required

• Background in food manufacturing environment
• Exposure to or understanding of cost accounting and operational finance
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Ability to investigate variances and explain financial performance clearly
• Good Excel and financial reporting skills
• Proactive mindset with a desire to learn and grow within a finance team
• Relevant finance or accounting qualification (part-qualified or studying towards a qualification).
