Overview:
A strategic business partner for Marketing and Promotions, providing challenge and support to drive brand development, commercial success, and revenue growth.
Acting as the finance lead on marketing and new product development (NPD) initiatives responsible for building business cases and reviewing financial performance.
Serving as the key finance contact for marketing spend management, including forecasting and tracking expenditures, while playing a crucial role in supporting Revenue Growth Management through detailed promotional analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the forecasting and budgeting processes for marketing spend, providing insight and challenge to ensure the business fully understands performance drivers, risks, and opportunities.
Oversee the day-to-day management and forecasting of promotional spend, including conducting promotional reconciliations to ensure accuracy and control.
Partner with the Revenue Growth Management and Marketing teams to develop and assess effective promotional strategies that drive growth and profitability.
Act as a key business partner to brand teams, ensuring alignment between brand objectives and commercial and financial outcomes.
Provide commercial guidance, challenge, and decision support on brand strategies to optimize investment and ensure delivery of business targets.
Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate costing is applied in new product development (NPD) and project evaluations.
Manage ad hoc financial activities in support of brand teams, contributing to the successful execution of business strategies.
Support the sales team with pricing for tenders, including both current and prospective customers within the Discounters channel.
Deliver ad hoc analysis to support the Head of Commercial Finance and other key stakeholders in strategic decision-making.
Skills and Experiances:
Qualifications:
Ideally a newly qualified accountant or nearing qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
Skills and Experience:
Previous experience in commercial finance within an FMCG environment is highly desirable.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights.
Advanced analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the business by adapting style and approach appropriately.
Sound judgement, with the ability to switch between detailed analysis and a broader strategic perspective as required.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with the agility to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
A confident and effective influencer, able to offer constructive challenge and support where needed.
Highly self-motivated and capable of managing time and tasks under pressure.
Strong IT proficiency, particularly in Excel and reporting tools/packages.
