Finance Analyst - Farming Finance Team

We are looking for a motivated and detail oriented Finance Analyst to join our Farming Finance Team. This role will support the Director of Finance Operations as well as the CFO in delivering key financial insights, along with commercial and operational financial analysis to drive business performance and support strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate will be highly IT proficient, particularly in Excel and Power BI, with a strong focus on gathering information, analysing data, and identifying opportunities for process and system improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Data Gathering and Consolidation

  • Collect financial and operational data from multiple sources, including Oracle NetSuite and internal documents

  • Prepare data for consolidation across the five operating businesses into unified reports

  • Liaise with operational teams to understand risks and opportunities

Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Review and support analysis of financial reports, identifying trends, variances and key performance indicators

  • Assist in preparing for monthly account review meetings and ensure managers understand their financial performance and key drivers

  • Use Power BI dashboards to present financial and operational data, applying dashboard design best practices

  • Integrate data from multiple sources to enable real-time insights and consistent reporting

Automation and Process Improvement

  • Identify inefficiencies in current finance processes and recommend improvements

  • Automate repetitive tasks using Excel (macros, formulas, tables, lists) and Power BI (data transformation, scheduled refreshes)

  • Proactively use available tools such as AI and financial systems to model scenarios and stress-test business assumptions

  • Suggest enhancements and upgrades to finance systems and tools, including ERP and BI integration

  • Work closely with internal teams to implement process improvements and monitor their effectiveness

Project Involvement and Ad Hoc Support

  • Contribute to ongoing financial initiatives and projects across the business

  • Provide analytical support and manage ad hoc requests to assist the Director of Finance and CFO

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Part-qualified or fully qualified CIMA or ACCA accountant, with a strong drive to continue developing technical knowledge

Key Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, macros and complex formulas

  • Proficient in Power BI, with experience in data modelling, dashboard creation and DAX

  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite, PBCS, HFM or similar

Additional Skills and Attributes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels

  • High level of accuracy with a keen eye for identifying discrepancies and inconsistencies, and proactively resolving them

  • Proactive and improvement-focused mindset, always looking for ways to enhance processes

  • Takes ownership of tasks and is able to work independently, while also being a strong team player

  • Experience working in manufacturing or farming would be an advantage

Location

  • Ely Area, Cambridgeshire

Salary

  • £35,000 - £45,000
