Fresh Produce Buyer | London/Kent | Growing Business

We have a great opportunity for a Fresh Produce Buyer to join a fast growing, ethical produce business. Having identified an opportunity to improve sustainability and reduce waste in the supply chain, our client is now looking to build on their recent success with a period of strategic growth. As a result of this, they now need to add more support to their Procurement team. They are involved in a range of products, across fruit, veg and salads so a general understanding of produce is essential.

The Job:
You will be liaising with a range of growers around the country and in Europe, to ensure they have good continuity of supply throughout the year. A core part of this role is to ensure you are actively seeking out new growers and partners. This allows you to manage the forecasted increase in demand and puts the business to be in a good position to continue its growth. You will be working closely with the Senior Buyer and the Directors, so you are always clear on the upcoming plans and requirements.

The Candidate:
Fresh produce experience is essential. The specific experience required from within the industry is broader, given the range of produce they are involved with. A proven track record of building good relationships with growers is key and the ability to seek out new relationships is crucial as well. Fundamentally, you will need to be passionate about building something from a good starting base. There are some real opportunities to be a bigger part of this business as they grow, but they need good people to help them do it.
