What Will I Be Doing? As the Group Plant Buyer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Plant department. Your primary focus will be ensuring a smooth operation and delivering the best possible customer experience. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage procurement across three sites, inventory, and vendor relationships. Additionally, you'll analyse market trends, negotiate pricing, and optimize supply chain processes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Vendor Relationships: Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiate terms, and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Market Trends: Stay informed about market trends, customer preferences, and industry innovations.
  • Buying and Ranging: Manage and develop ranges to deliver profitable business growth, set realistic forecasts across all three centres
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, monitor stock turnover, and optimize stock levels.
  • Pricing and Margins: Determine pricing strategies and maintain healthy profit margins.
  • Price Negotiation: Negotiate prices, payment terms contracts as well as other aspects of supplier accounts.

What Do I Need?

To excel in this role, you will have previous buying and trading experience within the horticulture sector. A commercial eye to identify gaps in the range and identify new market opportunities is essential and will take you far in this position.

Experience working for a multi-site garden centre group is preferred but not a deal breaker. Similarity, our client is looking for someone with excellent verbal and written communication skills, who possesses the confidence in presenting at all levels.

About the Client

Our client has three sites based in the Cambridgeshire area and has been helping gardeners for over 50 years. This exciting new role has been created to create a cohesiveness between their three sites.
