About the Client

Thetford Garden Centre was founded in the town centre in 1982 by Jean & Paul Nixon. With no previous experience in retail or horticulture they managed to build up a thriving business. Operating out of old vehicle servicing units, a large greenhouse was quickly added, and the business began to establish itself in the town. The business soon outgrew the make-shift premises and ten years later a move to a purpose-built store on the edge of Thetford was completed. Now in our third decade we still hold the same values - to provide our customers with a vast range of high-quality plants and goods, valuable advice, and an enjoyable garden centre experience.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced head chef to join the company and oversee the running for the whole catering operation. Pre Covid the catering side of the business was very successful, and the plan is to return to that standard as soon as possible. Alongside the main restaurant area, the garden centre has recently purchased a pizza and waffle trailer, as well as a Yurt for outside dining to drive more footfall into the business.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a strong chef background with experience of working within a busy, high profit kitchen. They will need to be able to lead and coach whilst being able to deal with customer issues, problems, and requirements. We are looking for a candidate who can come in and hit the ground running from day one.
