Head Gardener | County Waterford | £DOE
Imagine starting your day early, with the morning light filtering through the trees as you walk through the sprawling grounds of the estate you call home.
You begin by checking on the team, discussing the day's projects, and setting plans for seasonal planting or tackling a new garden feature. A quick stroll with the Estate Director gives you a chance to discuss fresh ideas, review budgets, and outline new areas for development.
Mid-morning, you're hands-on in the gardens, pruning, planting, or inspecting the health of the blooms, offering guidance and sharing expertise with your team. Later, you might lead a small group of visitors on a tour, sharing stories of the garden's history, upcoming plans, and unique plants that make these gardens so special.
About Our Client
This client is one of Ireland's most beautiful and renowned estates, a sprawling haven of botanical treasures that attracts visitors from near and far. Steeped in history and horticultural excellence, the estate is now seeking an inspiring Head Gardener to lead its team and bring a fresh vision to these historic grounds.
What You'll Be Doing
As Head Gardener, you'll be at the heart of the estate's transformation. Overseeing everything from seasonal planning to budgeting, you'll guide the garden team in daily maintenance and long-term development, working closely with the Estate Director to bring creative ideas to life. You'll be hands-on in keeping the gardens flourishing while also acting as an ambassador-leading tours, engaging with the community, and sharing the estate's legacy.
The Ideal Candidate
With at least five years of experience in horticultural team leadership, you're a people person who's passionate about plants. You bring practical expertise in garden management, budget planning, and, ideally, certifications in machinery operation.
A hands-on approach, a valid driver's license, and a love for sharing knowledge make you the perfect fit for our team.
