About the Client
We are currently working with a privately owned business with a great reputation, who are looking to strengthen their team with the appointment of a head of purchasing. Our client supplies multiple channels: foodservice, wholesale and retailers, with a variety of fresh and frozen food products. They pride themselves on their innovation and the products that they offer. They have more than doubled the size of the business in recent years. They have changed a lot in the past 12 months and have adapted to the market and the pandemic to be in the strongest possible position. As foodservice will come back online in more volume, they have a real chance to grow further and continue their growth trajectory.

About the Role
You will use your buying experience to deliver savings and efficiencies whilst ensuring the supply of sufficient stock and volumes to meet production needs. You will be able to source new ingredients and suppliers for NPD products in small volumes as well as buying bulk ingredients and commodities. You will be able to assess risk in supply chains and build short, medium and long term relationships with suppliers. You will create procurement strategies for each category and utilise your depth of knowledge and robust understanding of the total supply market. Your buying process will minimise the likelihood and/or impact of negative events.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will come from a food manufacturing background and will understand the pressures of working in a fast-paced food environment where a factory relies on the right ingredients and raw materials being available to function correctly. You will be a process-driven buyer with an MCIPS or equivalent qualification. You will have a proven track record of delivering savings and secure supply chains within a food ingredients or raw materials background. You will be able to demonstrate your knowledge of the food sector and supplier models.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, as a minimum, you will need to have a proven track record of buying and creating procurement strategies within the food manufacturing or ingredients sector. You will need to have strong communication skills, be self-motivated and have a can-do attitude.

Salary
Circa £50k -£65k with some flexibility for the right person + Car/benefits
