Health and Safety Officer

Job description

Is Health and Safety the route you see for yourself for the long run? Are you looking for a role where you can truly own the on-site safety culture? I am looking for a proactive Health & Safety Officer who can join a powerhouse in the chemical and retail manufacturing sphere.

This isn't just a "maintenance" role; it is a high-visibility position where you will serve as the point of contact for on-site HSE matters. For an ambitious individual with a few years of experience under their belt, this is an excellent succession piece offering clear room for professional growth and development within a busy manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-Site Lead: Act as the face of Health & Safety, providing expert advice and guidance to all staff and contractors.
  • Policy Implementation: Translate H&S legislation into practical, effective workplace policies.
  • Risk Management: Conduct regular site audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations to ensure a "safety first" culture.
  • Compliance: Ensure the facility remains fully compliant with all current UK HSE regulations and internal standards.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Experience: 2-3 years in a Health & Safety or Junior Safety Officer role, ideally within a manufacturing or factory setting.
  • Qualifications: Both IOSH and NEBOSH certifications are essential for this position.
  • Knowledge: A solid understanding of implementing H&S policies in line with current legislation.
  • Drive: While this role has no direct reports, we are looking for someone with the confidence to lead safety initiatives and the ambition to grow with the company.

Why consider?

  • Standard Mon-Fri Role: Enjoy a consistent routine with no weekend or shift work.
  • Growth Potential: This role is designed for someone looking to step up and prove their capabilities for future advancement.
  • Impact: You won't be a small cog in a big machine; you will be the key H&S figure on-site.
