Honorary Treasurer

Our client is seeking an Honorary Treasurer to join their Board of Trustees. This non-executive role is ideal for someone with experience in the charity or not-for-profit sectors. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in the agriculture sector. This role offers an excellent opportunity for those looking to take on their first Non-Executive Director (NED) position.

Main Responsibilities

• Financial Oversight: Monitor the financial administration of the charity, ensuring compliance with the governing document and legal requirements. Regularly report to the Board of Trustees on the charity's financial health in line with best practices.
• Committee Leadership: Chair the Finance and Remuneration Committee, which meets 3 to 4 times per year.
• Annual Reporting: Present the annual audited financial statement at the Annual General Meeting for the Board's adoption.
• Collaboration: Provide strategic and financial guidance, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Accountant to ensure the charity's financial commitments are met.

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Experience working with charities or not-for-profit organisations.
• Background in the agriculture sector - desirable

Commitment

• Attend monthly board meetings.
• Start date: Early next year.
• Interviews to commence in September.
