Night Shift Engineer
Job description
We are currently seeking a skilled Shift Engineer to join a busy engineering team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment on a Permanent Nights Panama Shift (3s & 2s). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with both mechanical and electrical expertise to play a key role in keeping production operations running smoothly and efficiently.
About the Role
As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the continuous operation of production equipment and factory systems. You will carry out both reactive and preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns quickly, and support process improvements to maximise plant efficiency and minimise downtime.
You'll work closely with the Engineering Manager, Shift Managers, and Line Leaders, contributing to a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and service all mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise downtime.
- Carry out preventative maintenance in line with schedules and procedures.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and take part in machine trials and development work.
- Liaise with production teams, contractors, and leadership to prioritise and schedule work.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards at all times.
- Keep accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Uphold high housekeeping and workshop standards.
What We're Looking For
- Time-served engineer with a formal electrical qualification
- Experience within the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with a methodical and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and respond swiftly under pressure.
- Good organisational, time management, and communication skills.
- Flexible approach to working hours to meet business needs.
- Commitment to high standards of accuracy, safety, and quality.
