Retail Buying Manager | Fresh Produce | Yorkshire | up to ~£90k

About the Job:
This role will be all about leading a team to deliver a first-class range of products to customers and the commercial results that follow. You will continue with day-to-day buying for key categories, sourcing from suppliers from across the World. You will know what quality looks like and how to negotiate with a variety of sources. You will lead by example and deliver results, whilst developing junior members of the team to deliver results across the wider business. You will utilise your experience in relevant categories to push the range forward and offer new and exciting products that deliver sales. You will also be responsible for managing a budget and buying in the best possible way to deliver margin targets. Wherever possible you will buy from growers direct at source.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong retail buying background. You will be able to demonstrate your knowledge of fresh produce and your ability to buy and source relevant products. You will be a strong leader and have a track record of developing members of your team. You will be able to work closely with technical teams to deliver the best possible products to the customers, for a competitive price. You will be au fait with complex supply chains and be able to work well under pressure given the highly seasonal nature and short shelf life of these products. You will have the flexibility to travel to growers worldwide to build relationships and secure supply.
To be considered for this role, as a minimum, you will need to have a proven track record in retail buying and negotiation. You will need to have experience in sourcing from a worldwide network. You will need to be able to demonstrate your ability to buy at the best possible price, whilst simultaneously building long term relationships with suppliers. You will need to have experience in a relevant category with short shelf life. You will need to be able to demonstrate your ability to manage and lead a team to deliver results.
DOE ~£90k+ competitive package
