What Will I Be Doing?
As Area Sales Manager, you will be looking after both existing customers and new potential accounts across East Anglia. The primary focus of the role is to maximise sales and longterm profitability through relationship building, customer service, and proactive market development.
You'll develop strong relationships with around 150+ grower accounts, ensuring they view you as their preferred supplier.
Regular customer contact will be key - using a mix of face-to-face visits (3 days per week), Teams calls, phone and email.
You'll be responsible for planning and executing sales visits, aiming for at least 5 meaningful grower meetings per day.
Alongside managing existing business, you'll identify and attract new customers, using market research and persistence to open new opportunities.
You'll provide quotations, manage pricing, promote new and seasonal offers, and contribute to the company's wider growth strategy.
You'll report regularly to the Sales Director, feeding back market insights, competitor activity, and performance updates.
You'll also represent the company at open days, trade shows, and other industry events.
What Do I Need?
Ideally, you'll have relevant educational and horticultural qualifications, and strong knowledge of the young plant or ornamental plants market, whether from a growing or sales perspective.
It's important that you're:
Self-motivated and well-organised, capable of managing your own schedule and targets
Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word and email
Able to travel regularly, with some overnight stays when visiting clustered customers
Previous experience in field sales is a plus, but personality, drive, and a passion for horticulture are just as important.
A Bit More About Our Client:
Our client is a long-established, international young plant and seed producer, supplying professional growers with high-quality seeds and young plants for flowers, vegetables, fruits, and herbs. They're known for their wide product range, strong customer relationships, and technical know-how.
