Job Title - Automation Engineer (Hybrid Working)

Location -Peterborough

Salary - £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience

Hours - Monday to Friday (8:30am - 5pm)

Benefits -Pension, 25 Days Holiday + 8 Bank Holidays, Subsidised Canteen

The Business

We are currently recruiting for one of the UK's leading manufacturers of fully automated equipment for the Food and Beverage Industry. The business have a long history in the design of fully bespoke solutions used in the manufacture for some of the UK's largest Food Manufacturers.

The business are currently going through a period of rapid expansion, with their aim to double their turnover by 2028. This has opened up a range of exciting new opportunities at all levels for candidates looking to further their own careers.

The Role

The Automation Engineer will be working as part of Software Development Team who are tasked with the creation of fully bespoke control software for their various machinery. This could be for automated robotic handling systems, cooking lines, labelling and dating systems, stock and inventory control systems, plus a variety of one off projects.

The majority of their systems are PLC controlled, with SCADA systems over the top. The Automation Engineer would be involved in the writing and testing of both, working closely with Design and Project Team in the development of new systems.

The business is happy to look at candidates with a wide variety of experience, from fresh Graduate to experienced Software and Controls Engineers. Upon starting the successful candidate will be working closely with one of the Lead Software Engineers so as to fully get to grips with their systems. All Projects are peer reviewed weekly as part of the wider Software Team to offer support, advise and guidance.

From time to time the Automation Engineer will be required to visit customer's sites as part of the Installation and Commissioning phase. As such you will need a Full UK Driving License and a Valid Passport as customer visits will sometimes be overseas.

The Candidate

  • Must have a Degree or higher in Computer Science, IT or similar Software Course.
  • Must have an understanding of / experience with writing PLCs or SCADA
  • Must have Valid Driving License and Passport.
