Food Safety/Compliance Manager / Fresh Produce / Lancs

£30-35k Monday - Friday role

As the Food Safety/Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring effective technical management and compliance of the site. You will play a crucial role in upholding company, retailer, industry, operational, and legal standards, including Tesco TFS standards and BRC guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure Standards Compliance: Guarantee that the site meets all relevant company, retailer, industry, operational, and legal standards, including Tesco TFS standards and BRC requirements.
• Complaints Management: Lead investigations into complaints, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions promptly.
• Collaborative Compliance: Work closely with Managers across all departments to ensure compliance in every aspect of the business.
• Communication and Engagement: Maintain open communication with all site Managers, providing guidance, support, and direction in preparation for audits.
• Team Collaboration: Actively participate as a key member of the Site Management Team, offering technical expertise on food safety, compliance, quality matters, and contributing to broader business initiatives.
• Training Development: Develop and deliver comprehensive food safety and quality training programs for staff at all levels.
• Internal Auditing: Conduct regular internal GMP audits to ensure adherence to standards and identify areas for improvement.
• Audit Preparation: Prepare the site for all customer and third-party visits/audits, ensuring compliance and readiness.
• Customer Interaction: Conduct factory tours with Customers upon request, showcasing our commitment to quality and compliance.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement across all areas of the business, seeking out opportunities for enhancement and efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Degree in Food Science, Food Safety, or related field would be desirable
• Proven experience in a similar role within the food or fresh produce industry.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, including Tesco TFS and BRC recruitments
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Certification in HACCP and Food Safety Management Systems is preferred.
