The business we're working with is a highly regarded garden centre group, and they're looking for an experienced and motivated retail manager to lead their Gardening department. About the role
As the gardening department manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the gardening department. You'll lead, develop, and motivate your team while ensuring the department runs efficiently and to the highest standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing your team to deliver excellent service and results
- Managing stock levels, seasonal planning, and retail standards
- Delivering sales targets and KPIs through effective retail execution
- Supporting the wider management team with day-to-day centre operations
- Providing expert product advice to customers and setting high service standards
- Maintaining high standards in merchandising, stock presentation, and promotional execution
The ideal candidate
- Proven retail management experience, ideally within a garden centre or DIY
- Hands-on leadership style with confident people management skills
- Commercial awareness, able to spot trends and maximise seasonal opportunities
- A passion for delivering great service through an engaged and knowledgeable team
- Strong product knowledge of gardening sundries, composts, fertilisers, and related categories is desired but not strictly necessary
