About the role

As the gardening department manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the gardening department. You'll lead, develop, and motivate your team while ensuring the department runs efficiently and to the highest standard.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing your team to deliver excellent service and results
• Managing stock levels, seasonal planning, and retail standards
• Delivering sales targets and KPIs through effective retail execution
• Supporting the wider management team with day-to-day centre operations
• Providing expert product advice to customers and setting high service standards
• Maintaining high standards in merchandising, stock presentation, and promotional execution

The ideal candidate

• Proven retail management experience, ideally within a garden centre or DIY
• Hands-on leadership style with confident people management skills
• Commercial awareness, able to spot trends and maximise seasonal opportunities
• A passion for delivering great service through an engaged and knowledgeable team
• Strong product knowledge of gardening sundries, composts, fertilisers, and related categories is desired but not strictly necessary
