Grower
Job description
Grower - Protected Crops
Kent | Full-time | Competitive Salary + Benefits
Do you love the science (and art!) of growing?
We're on the hunt for a Grower to join one of the UK's leading fresh produce businesses. This is your chance to play a key role in producing high-quality, glasshouse-grown crops enjoyed by households across the country.
What You'll Be Doing
As part of a small, dedicated growing team, you'll:
- Carry out crop checks and make sure plants are healthy, happy, and thriving
- Use biological, chemical, and physical controls to manage pests and diseases
- Get stuck into scouting, preventative actions, and problem-solving
- Keep accurate records and stay on top of paperwork (yes, audits matter!)
- Communicate with other departments to ensure smooth operations across the site
- Bring your knowledge of growing (any crop background welcome!) and apply it to the world of protected horticulture
- Take responsibility for your own work while being a great team player
What We're Looking For
We're not just after technical skills - we're looking for someone who's curious, motivated, and loves being part of a team that works with nature every day. Ideally, you'll have:
- A good understanding of plant husbandry and crop needs
- Knowledge of pest & disease control (biological, chemical, physical)
- Qualifications such as PA1, PA6, FLT, First Aid (or willingness to gain them)
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach
- A self-motivated attitude with the ability to spot issues and take action
Why You'll Love This Role
- Work with a business that's passionate about innovation and sustainability
- Be part of a friendly, supportive team where your input really matters
- Develop your technical growing skills on a commercial scale
- Enjoy a role that blends science, problem-solving, and hands-on crop care
- Great prospects for progression in a fast-moving industry
