You hear the word autonomy passed about all the time, and never really know if its true. This new role for this rapidly expanding business, and they need someone who can run the nursery independently.

What's the job?

This role will see you managing 2 direct reports, with a team underneath them.

You will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day growing of the plants on a 20-acre site, from propagation through to end result. Once they're top quality and ready to go, the strong operations team do the rest.

As well as managing the team, you'll also be organising production plans, tackling challenges head on, and implementing best ways of working.

As you'll already know, fertilizing, irrigation and pest management will all fall into your teams responsibilities.

The business is continually looking and unusual and exciting varieties to expand they're huge plant portfolio. They want you to lead these discussions, trial new lines and help decide what the future product ranges will look like.

They want to know what will work, what won't work, and what challenges you might face - which is where your expert plant knowledge will come in.

The business is passionate about sustainability, and with an already fantastic setup, you can help to influence this.

The majority of their range is propagated on site, so an understanding of propagation is essential. You don't need to be an expert, but you need to be knowledgeable enough to support your team.
