Nursery Manager

Looking for your next step in nursery management? Want to work for a growing, innovative business where plant quality really matters?
This multi-site operation supplies quality plants and garden products directly to consumers across the UK. You'll be based at their main 14-acre site, playing a key role in the technical growing team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled grower or team leader ready to take the next step in a thriving and forward-thinking horticultural business.
Benefits:
- 25 days holiday (plus 8 bank holidays)
- Company pension
- Staff discount
- On-site parking
- Career Growth
The Job:
- You'll report to the General Manager, an experienced operations leader with a strong commercial and logistics background. That means you'll be free to focus on what you do best: growing and managing a thriving nursery team.
- As Nursery Manager, you'll take full ownership of the growing operation on site. It's a hands-on, detail-oriented role where your technical skills and leadership will directly impact plant quality and team performance.
- You'll lead a team of 4-5 permanent staff (plus seasonal workers), overseeing all aspects of cultural care - watering, feeding, spraying, trimming, and spacing.
- You'll oversee plant quality and ensure readiness for dispatch.
- You'll manage pest and disease control, liaise with an external agronomist, and ensure records and compliance are spot on.
- You'll support a culture of continuous improvement and make sure health and safety standards are maintained.
What you'll Need:
- Strong practical experience in commercial plant production
- Working knowledge of pest, disease and weed control strategies, along with irrigation and feeding in container-grown nursery stock
- PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates
- Experience supervising small teams and leading from the front
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure
- A practical, can-do approach - you're happy working outdoors and able to juggle daily husbandry tasks with the bigger picture of crop readiness, productivity and presentation
