About the Role

We're recruiting an Outdoor Plant Area Manager to join a well-established and highly regarded garden retail business at its flagship Chelsea site.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role where you'll take full responsibility for the outdoor plant area, overseeing team performance, commercial success, and day-to-day operations. You'll play a key part in the wider management team, acting as second in command and supporting the overall running of the store.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day running of the outdoor plant area, including shrubs, bedding, and outdoor pots

• Manage, motivate, and develop the outdoor team

• Oversee stock control, purchasing, and merchandising to maximise sales and availability

• Drive sales performance against targets, contributing to overall business success

• Ensure excellent customer service, responding to enquiries and maintaining strong relationships

• Maintain high standards of plant care, presentation, and department upkeep

• Support wider store operations as second in command, deputising where required

• Ensure compliance with health & safety and company policies

What We're Looking For

• Strong horticultural knowledge, particularly within outdoor plants

• Proven retail experience, ideally within a garden centre environment

• Leadership capability, with experience managing and developing teams

• Commercial mindset with an understanding of sales, stock, and performance

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors year-round
