PPM Engineer
Job description
PPM Engineer (12-Month FTC) - Food Production. Are you sick of the firefighting?
Let's cut the fluff. You're a skilled engineer and you're already employed. So why should you care about this 12-month contract at our client's leading food manufacturing site?
Simple: This is a PPM role, not a breakdown service.
If your current job is 80% reacting to catastrophic failures and 20% trying to get a decent coffee, then this is your chance to focus on proper engineering. We need an engineer whose main priority is making the machinery reliable, safe, and efficient through structured, planned work. If you prefer fixing things once so they stay fixed, over being an exhausted first responder, we should talk.
What The Job Really Is
Forget the long list of vague responsibilities. Here's where you'll spend your time:
- PPM. Seriously. Your job is to run and optimise the Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules to keep the production line moving.
- Root Cause Fixing. Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues during scheduled time, implementing long-term fixes, and driving continuous improvements to eliminate future faults.
- The New Kit. Supporting the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
- Staying Compliant. Ensuring all work is logged accurately in the CMMS and adheres to safety and statutory requirements like PUWER and LOLER.
If you don't enjoy planned work or process improvement, please stop reading now. This isn't the role for you.
What You Need To Prove:
We're looking for an engineer who knows their stuff.
- Qualifications: Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
- Experience: Time spent in a high-volume manufacturing or fast-paced food production environment.
- Skills: Strong diagnostic ability across mechanical and electrical systems. You know the difference between a real fault and an operator error.
- Mindset: You understand the value of PPM, RCM, and Continuous Improvement. CMMS experience is a bonus.
Why Take The Contract?
- The Work: A dedicated, structured maintenance role focused on reliability, not just reaction.
- The Future: Genuine opportunities for learning, development, and mentoring. A great 12-month project for your CV.
- The Package: Competitive pay, plus the typical benefits (pension, health plan, life assurance, etc.).
