Role Overview

They are seeking a proactive and experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our Facilities & Maintenance team. In this key role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring maintenance and repair works across a wide range of machinery, equipment, and building systems.

Day-to-day activities will include troubleshooting electromechanical packaging machinery, supporting site hygiene and safety compliance, coordinating with contractors, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and schedule preventative maintenance programs and statutory inspections
  • Minimise downtime by responding promptly to breakdowns and faults
  • Monitor equipment performance using KPIs and suggest improvements
  • Conduct risk assessments, prepare method statements, and ensure all safety permits are in place
  • Maintain and repair packaging machinery, building systems, fire and alarm systems, and ripening rooms
  • Deliver training to key production staff on machinery operation
  • Support hygiene and quality compliance across the site
  • Maintain a comprehensive asset register
  • Liaise with external contractors and monitor ongoing work
  • Provide input on potential safety and efficiency improvements


Requirements

  • City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in a mechanical discipline
  • 17th Edition Electrical qualification (18th preferred)
  • Formal Health & Safety training
  • Full UK driving license
  • Proven background in maintenance within industrial or production environments
  • Experience with machinery, plant, and building maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of HSE standards, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
  • Familiarity with COSHH regulations, CDM guidelines, and F-gas compliance
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to use and maintain hand and power tools
  • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
  • Physically capable of lifting and manual handling tasks
