Role Overview
They are seeking a proactive and experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our Facilities & Maintenance team. In this key role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring maintenance and repair works across a wide range of machinery, equipment, and building systems.
Day-to-day activities will include troubleshooting electromechanical packaging machinery, supporting site hygiene and safety compliance, coordinating with contractors, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and schedule preventative maintenance programs and statutory inspections
- Minimise downtime by responding promptly to breakdowns and faults
- Monitor equipment performance using KPIs and suggest improvements
- Conduct risk assessments, prepare method statements, and ensure all safety permits are in place
- Maintain and repair packaging machinery, building systems, fire and alarm systems, and ripening rooms
- Deliver training to key production staff on machinery operation
- Support hygiene and quality compliance across the site
- Maintain a comprehensive asset register
- Liaise with external contractors and monitor ongoing work
- Provide input on potential safety and efficiency improvements
Requirements
- City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in a mechanical discipline
- 17th Edition Electrical qualification (18th preferred)
- Formal Health & Safety training
- Full UK driving license
- Proven background in maintenance within industrial or production environments
- Experience with machinery, plant, and building maintenance
- Strong knowledge of HSE standards, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
- Familiarity with COSHH regulations, CDM guidelines, and F-gas compliance
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to use and maintain hand and power tools
- Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
- Physically capable of lifting and manual handling tasks
