Purchasing Manager
Job description
You'll be setting up a brand-new purchasing function from scratch. That means building the processes, picking the suppliers, negotiating the contracts and implementing the strategies that will allow the business to scale efficiently.
Your focus will be on finding smarter ways of sourcing, reducing costs without compromising quality and eliminating inefficiencies across the supply chain.
What you'll be doing:
- Developing procurement processes that can handle volume as the business grows.
- Working with internal teams to identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities.
- Negotiating and managing supplier relationships to get the right balance of cost, quality and delivery.
- Driving standardisation and process improvements to achieve economies of scale.
- Anticipating risks and ensuring the business has strong alternative sourcing options in place.
What you'll need
- A solid background in procurement or supply chain with plenty of experience dealing with suppliers in China. Mandarin language skills would be a huge bonus!
- Strong negotiation skills and a track record of delivering savings and efficiencies.
- A good technical understanding of manufacturing processes and what drives cost.
- Confidence working cross-functionally and influencing senior stakeholders.
Why this role?
Because this is a rare chance to actually build something. Not just keep a seat warm in an existing department. If you want to shape how procurement is done, rather than inherit someone else's story, this could be the role for you.
