We are currently seeking a proactive and detail oriented Finance Manager to support our Finance Director within a fast paced finance team. This is a hands on role involving both management and financial accounting responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a key part in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly management accounts and weekly KPIs, while also supporting a range of wider finance team activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Finance Director with year end audit processes, annual budgeting, and ad hoc financial analysis.

  • Prepare month end management accounts, including accruals and prepayments, and investigate variances against budget.

  • Reconcile control accounts and assist with other audit preparation tasks.

  • Review and submit monthly VAT returns.

  • Generate and distribute weekly and monthly KPI reports.

  • Provide financial support and guidance to non-finance managers and budget holders.

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and payroll (managing a team of three).

  • Provide holiday cover across various finance department roles as required.

  • Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, processes, and procedures.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong, relevant experience in a finance role, ideally gained in practice or within an SME environment.

  • ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification (or part-qualified) is advantageous but not essential.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (including pivot tables and data analysis).

  • Experience managing or supervising a small finance team.

  • Curious and analytical mindset with a drive to improve processes.

  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.

  • High level of honesty, integrity, and attention to detail.
