About Our Client
We are working with a leading fresh produce importer who pack a range of fresh produce for retail and foodservice customers. They are looking to strengthen the technical team with a Senior Technical Product Quality Manager reporting into the Head of Technical.
About the Job
You will take responsibility for the management of a specific fruit category and decision making on behalf of the business guiding the operational colleagues as to how best to utilise the product for the best outcome for the business based on set KPI's. Ensure a safe and legal trading position for the company in all Technical, Quality and Ethical matters within your assigned category. Accountable for leading and managing the site QMS, HACCP and food safety policies, procedures, and document control, ensuring it exceeds customer and industry requirements.
You will release all fruit into the works orders to ensure that the product is utilised to its optimum while maintaining key KPI's. To hold ongoing dialogue with the commercial, ripening and sales teams to ensure that all are aware of supply/demand issues. To drive continuous improvement processes, track and drive Grower performance and data to contribute through to end of season reviews/scorecards. Lead site audits alongside relevant operational and technical teams, internal & external, tracebacks and managing all 3rd party audits on site. The Ideal Candidate
You will ideally have degree-level qualifications in a relevant discipline such as Agronomy, Food Science/Tech, Quality Management, Crop production.
You must have previous knowledge and experience of product management within fruit.
Excellent understanding of food safety, quality, and legality including both legislative requirements and best industry practice.
Ability to Influence and to build relationships and trust at all levels both internally & externally.
Possesses the analytical skills and the ability to make sound business decisions, along with financial/commercial awareness which contributes to the decision-making process.
