Technologist - Fresh Produce
Are you passionate about fresh produce, food safety, and building strong grower and customer relationships?
We're looking for a proactive and detail-driven Technologist to join our Technical Team in Evesham - supporting all things quality, compliance, and innovation across our fresh produce supply base (including organic lines).
This is a hands-on, varied role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves getting into the detail - from supplier approval to pesticide management and customer meetings.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage supplier approval and support the due diligence process.
- Keeping the approved supplier list up to date and ensuring all records and TA037s are accurate.
- Building and maintaining excellent relationships with customer technologists - attending meetings, preparing trackers, and supporting with quality or specification queries.
- Providing fruit technology expertise to both growers and customers, spotting opportunities for improvement.
- Managing ethical compliance (Sedex, SMETA) and ensuring supplier actions are completed.
- Overseeing pesticide and microbiology testing, tracking results, and implementing corrective actions.
- Supporting BRCGS documentation and conducting internal audits.
- Maintaining organic and Fairtrade standards and supporting new product launches and seasonal reviews.
- Visiting suppliers and growers to complete audits and build relationships across the supply base.
- Supporting production, quality control, and NPD teams to keep everything running smoothly.
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience within the fresh produce sector - ideally fruit or salad categories.
- A good understanding of food safety, legality, and environmental regulations, including organic certification.
- Knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, ethical trading, and pesticide management.
- Excellent communication, IT, and relationship-building skills.
- A practical, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to work independently.
- Degree in a relevant science or food-related subject.
- (Bonus points for a second language and auditing experience!)
