The Challenge

LBS Horticulture is a well-established wholesale distributor supplying a broad range of products into the horticultural industry. With a strong reputation and loyal customer base, the business identified an exciting growth opportunity: to further develop and accelerate its eCommerce channel.
This was a newly created role, focused on driving online sales performance and expanding marketplace activity. The challenge lay in finding someone with proven experience in managing and scaling marketplaces, but who also understood the horticultural trade and was local enough to be site-based.
The skillset required was specific, digital capability combined with commercial awareness and sector understanding, making it a niche search within a relatively tight geographical area.

Direct experience driving marketplace growth (e.g. Amazon, eBay and other online channels)
A strong grasp of commercial performance and digital optimisation
The ability to operate within a product-led, trade-focused environment
The right personality to thrive in a growing, ambitious business
By leveraging our network across the garden retail and supply chain sector, as well as targeted headhunting, we were able to present relevant candidates who met both the digital and commercial brief.
The Results
The successful candidate has taken the role by storm, quickly embedding themselves into the business and accelerating progress within the eCommerce function.
