Dispatch Team Leader

Job description

Think of yourself as the driving force behind our dispatch team, making sure every order leaves on time, in full, and to the highest standards.

You'll be right there on the floor, coordinating people, vehicles, and equipment so deliveries run smoothly, product integrity is protected, and customers get exactly what they expect. This isn't about paperwork alone it's about leading from the front, spotting issues before they become problems, and keeping safety and compliance at the core of everything you do.

What you'll be doing

Team Leadership & Support
Supervise and coordinate the dispatch team to keep operations running smoothly.
Build, coach, and inspire a motivated team, setting clear expectations and maintaining high standards.
Handle people‑related matters promptly and fairly, following HR policies.

Operations & Fulfilment
Lead outbound fulfilment to ensure orders are processed and dispatched on time and in full.
Monitor loading and unloading to protect product integrity and maintain compliance.
Maintain stock control and ensure proper rotation of products.
Report daily dispatch performance and KPIs to management.

Compliance & Safety
Promote health, safety, and wellbeing as everyday priorities.
Conduct regular checks on vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance.
Stop unsafe practices immediately and take corrective action.
Keep documentation accurate for all dispatched goods (delivery notes, invoices, traceability records).

Collaboration & Improvement
Work cross‑functionally to resolve issues and improve communication.
Drive structured improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and team engagement.

What you'll bring
2-3 years' experience in dispatch or logistics, ideally in poultry or food production.
Supervisory or team leader experience.
Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
Familiarity with ERP systems or dispatch software (advantageous).
GCSEs or equivalent; logistics or management certifications preferred.
Strong leadership, organisational skills, and attention to detail.
Clear communication, problem‑solving ability, and adaptability in fast‑paced environments.
