Role Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Shift Team Leader to join their site in Poole. This days-only position operates on a Panama shift pattern and is critical to supporting food manufacturing operations.
Reporting into the Engineering Leadership Team, you will ensure plant and equipment operate at peak performance. From routine maintenance to fast-paced troubleshooting, you'll be responsible for keeping production running smoothly and safely, while driving standards in engineering excellence and food safety.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role ideal for someone who thrives in a supportive and challenging environment - and is ready to step up and lead when needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Always operate in line with SHE policy and engineering safety procedures
- Conduct risk assessments and follow Permit to Work and RAMS protocols
- Monitor contractor compliance with site standards and GMP
- Ensure engineering work meets Quality and Food Safety procedures
- Complete intervention documentation and maintain clean, audit-ready workshops
- Operate and maintain the CMMS for production and site services
- Perform autonomous, preventative, and predictive maintenance routines
- Lead reactive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting
- Escalate issues and provide on-call support as needed
- Attend technical training and support onboarding of new team members
- Deliver one-point lessons to operators on key equipment
- Identify and lead engineering improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with production to resolve root causes and improve asset performance
- Step in to cover Engineering Leaders as needed
- Delegate tasks, attend meetings, and report on engineering activity
- Follow complex electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical diagrams
- Keep drawings and versions updated with accurate change control
Requirements
- Strong technical knowledge in engineering maintenance and systems
- Proficient in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics
- Competent user of CMMS systems and maintenance documentation
- Logical thinker with excellent fault diagnosis ability
- A proactive, positive team player with strong organisational skills
- Experience in food manufacturing or fast-paced production environments preferred
- Leadership capability and willingness to step up when needed
- Passionate about high standards, continuous improvement, and doing things right the first time
