About the Role

As an Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating a small team of multi-skilled engineers, ensuring safe and effective maintenance across a wide range of production equipment. You'll lead by example, managing day-to-day tasks, allocating work, supporting breakdown response, and ensuring all planned maintenance activities are completed to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and support a small team of multi-skilled engineers on shift.
  • Allocate engineering tasks, ensuring effective use of labour, skills and resources.
  • Oversee reactive maintenance, coordinating rapid and safe breakdown resolution.
  • Ensure planned preventive maintenance (PPM) is completed on time and to specification.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support site engineering projects, installations and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, compliance records and shift reports.
  • Meet health & safety standards, ensuring safe working practices at all times.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering apprentices and junior team members.
  • Ensure spare parts are used responsibly and highlight stock issues as needed.

Requirements

  • Time-served, multi-skilled engineer (electrical or mechanical bias considered).
  • Previous experience in a supervisory, team leader or senior engineer role.
  • Strong background in FMCG, food manufacturing, or other fast-paced production environments.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Confident in fault finding across mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to manage workloads, prioritise effectively and remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills with an collaborative, people-focused approach.
  • Good understanding of safe working practices and engineering compliance.
  • Flexible, proactive and committed to delivering high engineering standards.
