Head Grower

Canada

£attractive plus accommodation!

Picture this. You start your day with a morning walk along the picturesque Canadian beach.

Say hi to the locals on your way to work and get cracking with your busy day growing tomatoes in a state-of-the-art glasshouse.

You finish your day with a countryside walk, a nice meal and views you dream of.

They'll get you your visa, support your accommodation and help you live where you've always dreamed of.

Tell me more

I'm working with a family business based in Canada, that specialises in protected salad crops for retailers.

They grow produce throughout the year, in a high-tech, modern 3.5-acre glasshouse.

They've continued to grow and grow (pardon the pun) and now they need an expert grower to come in, manage the operations and help the business grow.

Reporting to the owner, you will be part of a 20-strong team who are truly passionate about growing quality, organic produce.

You'll already know what the day-to-day involves - crop walking, P&D monitoring, creating fertiliser programmes…

You'll get to manage a team and working closely with the owner means your opinion will truly be heard.

What do I need?

You'll have experience in growing tomatoes, cucumbers or other protected salad crops in a glasshouse environment.

P&D, fertiliser and IPM programmes will all come naturally to you, and you'll be excited to put your skills into use.

As the glass is high-tech, you'll understand this sort of working environment. You'll be confident managing automated irrigation systems, grow scales and liquid CO2.

Communication will come naturally to you, and you'll be comfortable managing teams and dealing with external stakeholders.

Ideally, you'll have experience in organic growing. It's ok if you don't - but you need to be interested in it!
