Using established lean manufacturing principles and innovative growing technology they are the UK's largest producer of indoor ornamental pot plants and supply over 8 million plants to major retailers including M&S, Sainsburys, Tesco and Waitrose every year.

As Junior / Trainee Grower your responsibilites will be:

To plan, manage and prioritise the day-to-day crop work/growing activities of the team in line with the requirements of the Growing Management.

Liaise directly with Growing Management to respond positively to their requirements an agreed job priority, including irrigation, chemical applications, biological control and environmental/culture controls

Actively look for new way to reduce waste and improve energy efficiency by demonstrating knowledge in growing and plant husbandry processes.

To take responsibility managing and achieving the budgeted labour/waste costs for the crop through effective knowledgeable crop husbandry and planning.

Comply with Health and Safety legislation and company procedures.

Keep the Growing areas maintained to an acceptable level at all times.

Develop an understanding of climate control- Hoogendoorn software.

Monitor performance of varieties and trials.

Be willing to accompany management on trips to Europe to visit growers and suppliers of young plants occasionally.

Be able to work in the orchid glasshouses which are a hot challenging environment.

The ideal candidate will be a horticultural graduate who is looking to build their career in the commercial sector or someone trained in horticulture who is looking to develop their career further within a leading nursery.

Car Parking on site; 24 days holiday plus Bank Holidays; Cash Back Health-plan; Working Hours 39 hours per week Mon 7.30am to 3.15pm, Tues - Fri 7.30am to 4.15pm, with flexibility to cover seasonal peaks in workload.
