Reporting to: Packhouse Manager
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday day shift (flexible, 48 hours a week)

They are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join their packhouse team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance engineering and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production facilities. This role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment to minimise downtime and maintain high operational efficiency.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role, responsible for keeping our production machinery, equipment, and site services fully operational. You will respond to both planned and reactive maintenance needs, supporting a range of mechanical and electrical systems while ensuring compliance with health and safety, environmental standards, and TPM practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair production machinery and equipment to reduce downtime.
  • Respond to breakdowns quickly and safely, prioritising urgent issues.
  • Implement and manage TPM and PPM schedules.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in electrical and mechanical systems including PLCs, Inverter Drives, Conveyors, Weighers, Wrappers, and more.
  • Carry out inspections and maintenance of building services (e.g. fire alarms, HVAC, BMS).
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance tasks and repairs.
  • Support continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and company safety policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • Multi-skilled engineering background (electrical & mechanical).
  • Proven experience in food, automotive, or other high-paced environments.
  • Confident with fault-finding on PLCs, HMI's, control circuits, and 3-phase systems.
  • Experience in fabrication, welding, gearbox/motor repairs, plumbing, and instrumentation.
  • Competent in managing TPM systems and safety compliance.
  • Familiar with electrical schematics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and control systems.
  • IEE 17th/18th Edition qualified preferred.
  • Engineering qualification to HNC level or equivalent.
