Mechanical Engineer

Job description

Maintenance Engineer - Packing Plant

Multi-skilled | Mechanical bias

This isn't a role where you stand back and hope nothing breaks. You'll keep the packing plant and wider site moving, fixing things fast, preventing repeat failures, and making production actually work.

What you'll actually do

  • Multi-skilled engineering support with a mechanical leaning

  • Fault-find properly, identify causes, and deliver solutions

  • Support capital investment, packaging, and improvement projects

  • Implement controlled changes to boost line performance and efficiency

  • Coach operators on how the kit actually works

What you need

  • Completion of an indentured apprenticeship

  • Multi-skilled qualification: Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics (BTEC, ONC, HNC or similar)

  • Previous FMCG experience

  • Production line mindset - understand flows, not just fix bits

  • Pneumatics, hydraulics, steam, and electrical systems

  • Bench fitting skills for machinery repair

  • TIG or hygienic welding a bonus

What's on offer

  • Competitive salary

  • 33 days holiday + option to buy 5 more

  • Pension contribution and life assurance

  • Staff discounts on food, drink, hotels, and retail

  • Employee assistance program covering mental health, financial, legal support

  • Career progression and training - multi-level development if you actually want it

If you take pride in solving problems, keeping machines running, and quietly making the production line look easy, this role will fit.
