About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Product Manager to join a leading fresh produce business, based in Spalding and working across two sites, this role offers broad exposure across whole head fresh produce, pre-prepared products, and cooked prepared products.

The position combines hands-on quality assessment with product allocation and supply chain decision-making. There is significant scope to grow within the role.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Interpret and apply customer and internal specifications across all product categories
  • Assess raw material quality at intake, during storage, on the packing line, and within finished goods
  • Carry out regular stock inspections, with particular focus on imported products and storage conditions
  • Collect, record, and submit product samples for laboratory testing, benchmarking, and assessment
  • Support traceability and mass balance exercises to ensure transparency and compliance

Supplier & Partner Collaboration

  • Review third-party inspection reports, ensuring accuracy, timely distribution (within 24 hours), and follow-up of corrective actions
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, partner packing sites, and third-party facilities
  • Liaise closely with Technical Management to ensure all products are safe, legal, and compliant

Stock & Supply Chain Management

  • Manage stock rotation and product allocation using quality assessments, test results, harvest data, and delivery information
  • Investigate waste stock and manage write-offs to support optimal rotation and food distribution
  • Support the Procurement team in maintaining a robust and reliable supply base

Cross-Functional Support

  • Communicate quality and product issues promptly to Technical, Procurement, and Packing teams

About You

We're looking for a motivated, detail-focused individual who can thrive in a fast-paced fresh produce environment. You will bring:

  • Experience in quality assurance or technical roles within fresh produce or the wider food industry
  • Strong communication skills, able to work diplomatically with suppliers, technical teams, and commercial colleagues
  • A proactive, adaptable approach with the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Strong organisation skills, attention to detail, and a process-driven mindset
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and online reporting platforms
  • A genuine desire to learn, develop, and grow within the role
  • A valid passport and clean driving licence, allowing travel where required

Qualifications

  • Higher education preferred (e.g. A-levels), or
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in fresh produce with relevant work-based qualifications, including:
    • Level 2 HACCP & Food Safety (minimum)
    • BRC and/or Internal Auditor qualification

Terms & Conditions

  • Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Pension: 3% employer / 5% employee
  • Annual Leave: 25 days plus bank holidays
