QA Manager

Job description

QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

Reports to: Technical Director

If you're the kind of QA Manager who knows their way around BRC, can handle an unannounced audit without panicking, and genuinely enjoys building a quality culture (not just policing one)… keep reading.

This is a hands-on, influential QA leadership role where you'll own the day-to-day Quality function and sit at the heart of the site's technical operation.

WHAT'S THE ROLE REALLY ABOUT?

You'll be the driving force behind Quality on site - from intake to dispatch - ensuring everything leaving the factory is safe, legal, compliant and bang on spec.

You'll work closely with departmental managers, lead the QA team, and play a key role in keeping standards high, audits smooth, and continuous improvement moving forward.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Owning the factory QA function end-to-end (intake → dispatch)
  • Leading, coaching and managing the QA team to ensure full site coverage
  • Making sure BRC, Tesco & retailer standards are always audit-ready
  • Keeping site documentation up to date, accurate and usable
  • Preparing for and supporting unannounced technical audits
  • Managing traceability, shelf life testing and quality data trending
  • Driving corrective actions when standards slip - and fixing root causes
  • Supporting NPD trials and system improvements
  • Being an active member of the HACCP team
  • Training, teaching and embedding a strong quality culture
  • Working as part of the wider site management team, not in a silo

WHO THIS SUITS

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Is an experienced QA Manager / Senior QA in food manufacturing / fresh produce
  • Knows BRC, retailer standards and food legislation inside out
  • Is confident leading teams and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Enjoys improving systems, not just maintaining them
  • Can independently resolve issues and see actions through to completion

WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT

  • Real ownership of Quality on site
  • Strong Technical leadership and support
  • A business that values doing things properly
  • Opportunity to shape culture, systems and future improvements
  • Occasional UK & overseas travel to keep things interesting
