Position: Retail & Forecourt Principal (Designate)
Location: West Sussex
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Hours: Full-time (42.5 hours per week, flexibility required)

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, family-run Garden Centre and burgeoning forecourt business with a strong reputation for customer service, horticulture, and retail standards.

The business operates in multiple forecourt sites and is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to step into a senior, multi-site support role. This position is ideal for a strong retail leader who is ready to progress beyond single-site management and develop into a role with more area responsibility.

Forecourt experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.

The role

• As Retail & Forecourt Principal (Designate), you will support the day-to-day operation of multiple forecourt sites, working closely with the Group Forecourt Director to ensure consistent standards, strong performance, and full compliance.
• You will not be permanently based on one site, but will work across locations, supporting site managers and retail teams.
• Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting site managers to deliver strong retail and forecourt performance.
• Ensuring company policies, brand standards, and franchise requirements are implemented consistently.
• Maintaining high standards of compliance across fuel, health & safety, and retail operations.
• Supporting merchandising, product placement, and promotional execution.
• Using EPOS systems and electronic shelf-edge labelling to support pricing and availability.
• Providing guidance, coaching, and operational support to retail teams.
• Taking a hands-on approach when required to resolve operational issues.

What we're looking for

• Proven retail management experience (essential).
• Forecourt or filling station experience (desirable but not essential).
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in a retail or forecourt management environment.
• Strong understanding of merchandising and retail standards.
• Comfortable using EPOS systems and retail technology.
• Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
• Ability to work flexibly and support the business as required.
• Based in West Sussex.
