Shop Manager
Location: Chichester, West Sussex
Salary: £28,000 per annum - willing to flex DOE
Hours: 37.5 per week, rota basis (averaged over a two-week pattern, includes weekends and Bank Holidays)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and highly regarded garden centre in West Sussex as a Shop Manager, overseeing the retail shop and food hall operations within a busy and popular site.

What you'll be doing:

As Shop Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the shop and food hall, ensuring high standards of customer service, presentation, and commercial performance.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Managing daily retail operations, ensuring smooth and efficient running of the shop and food hall.
• Leading, motivating, and developing the team to create a positive and high-performing environment.
• Driving sales, managing budgets, controlling costs, and improving overall profitability.
• Overseeing stock control, merchandising, and product quality standards.
  Handling customer feedback and complaints professionally and proactively.
• Ensuring full compliance with health and safety and operational procedures.
  Working closely with senior management to achieve revenue targets and operational goals.

• Proven experience in retail management.
• Demonstrable experience leading and developing a team.
• Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets and sales targets.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer-first mindset.
• Ability to delegate effectively and manage multiple priorities across departments.
• A calm and solutions-focused approach, particularly during busy trading periods.
• Flexibility to work weekends and seasonal peak periods.
• An interest in sustainability and environmentally friendly practices would be advantageous.
• Applicants must already be based in the UK and have the right to work.
