Have you heard of Meat Business Women?

about 1 year ago by Natalie Smith

We recently spoke with Meat Business Women – an impressive global professional networking movement for women working in the meat industry.

The Meat Supply Chain is one of the largest economic sectors in the world - the value of the global meat sector was estimated to value at $897 billion in 2021, and was forecast to increase to $1354 billion by 2027.*

‘Meat Business Women was founded in 2015 by Laura Ryan and Pamela Brook. Having worked in the meat industry for more than a decade, Laura was struck by the limited number of females in the industry, and at board level in particular.

As her passion for the industry grew, Laura became more and more aware of the lack of female talent outside of family-owned businesses. Along with Pamela, she launched the professional networking group to help promote the meat sector as a positive career choice for women.

“Our mission is to connect talented and dedicated professional women in every role within the meat industry, all over the globe. We provide a global hub that drives forward the transformation of the industry’s image, culture, and landscape.”’

Meat Business Women covers all stages of the Global Meat Supply Chain from where it all begins in Farming, through to Production and Processing where daily challenges and poor press are a common factor. The industry meets consumer in Retail covering small local butchers through to multinational supermarkets and Food Service – supplying fast food establishments through to fine dining, all relying on a fast fresh supply in multiple quantities, sizes and shapes.
