AMES UK is a business group focused on home garden consumers that brings together like-minded businesses in a strong portfolio of retail brands, including Apta, Kelkay, La Hacienda and True Temper.
During the first Covid-19 lockdown they were on the hunt for an Area Sales Manager in Scotland and then subsequently three Product Merchandisers to strengthen the Apta team in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Hull.
They were keen to find candidates with a sales background and ideally some garden centre experience but, despite a large number of applications, they were struggling to find anyone suitable.
We were initially approached to assist with the search for an Area Sales Manager for all AMES brands. As a specialist recruiter for the industry, we identified a number of potential candidates from a combination of our networks on LinkedIn and our candidate database.
Initial interviews were carried out via Microsoft Teams, followed by face-to-face interviews with the shortlisted candidates.
After successfully filling the Area Sales Manager role, we then set to work on finding three Product Merchandisers for Apta, who all started in the autumn.
