County Milk Products has grown to be one of Europe’s leading suppliers of dairy ingredients to the food manufacturing industry. With a strong family heritage, the business has been trading across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe for over 25 years.
They approached MorePeople about a new position within the business, a Trader role that required somebody with expertise in future markets to help steer them going forward and ensure sustainable and continuous growth.
Rather than create a detailed job spec, the client was looking for the right person to shape the role, add value to the business, manage existing customers and develop new ones.
Key to finding suitable candidates for this role was a thorough understanding of the culture of County Milk Products, so we spent a lot of time getting to know the existing team.
Two potential candidates were put forward that had different skill sets, but both ticked the box in terms of cultural fit. After two stages of interviews, the business could see value in both candidates and created positions for them both!
Shortly afterwards, we used our knowledge of the business to find them a new IT Systems Controller.
As a specialist recruiter for the food industry, our focus is on creating long-term relationships with clients to enable us to find the right people for their business. In non-Covid times, we regularly visit client sites to see how products are grown, processed or manufactured, spending time with employees to gain a better understanding of the business and culture.
In this case study, relationship building had to be done online and by phone, but these successful placements are a great example of how it can be done.
