When the COVID-19 pandemic hit and consumers started panic buying food, many turned to online stores to avoid having to visit the supermarket. Skoulikas Bedford noticed a sudden, significant increase in orders on its Sunita foods website with shoppers stocking up on items such as olive oil, pesto and vegan milk alternatives.
Identifying an opportunity to maximise the e-commerce side of the business, Skoulikas Bedford briefed the MorePeople Commercial team on an urgent vacancy for an ‘Online Champion’ to both promote and grow the website while also focusing on customer service.
After taking the brief from Skoulikas Bedford, it was clear that this was a unique opportunity that would suit a recent graduate who was passionate about e-commerce and social media. The job advert reflected this brief, appealing to candidates with an entrepreneurial flair, and attracted a large number of applications.
Having shortlisted four candidates, three took part in a two-stage video interview process, with one being invited to the office for a final stage face-to-face interview and tour of the workplace.
Video interviewing speeds up the recruitment process as they are less time consuming and it’s therefore much easier to identify times that suit both busy clients and candidates who are working.
Time was of the essence with this one as the role was briefed in early June with an ideal start date of July. The lockdown situation enabled flexibility on both sides and the successful candidate started on 6th July.
