Exciting Opportunity: Finance Manager - Agriculture

Are you a finance professional with experience in agricultural or FMCG environments, looking for a fresh challenge? We're partnering with a leading fresh produce company to find a talented Finance Manager to join their dynamic farming operations team. This is a unique opportunity for someone to take ownership of the profit and loss management of a busy, year round farming business, all while working in a fast paced and evolving industry.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: This is a high impact role where you'll manage the entire P&L for the farm, including the annual budget and the 3 year business plan. You'll be the go to expert for financial performance, providing regular, insightful reports to senior leadership.

  • Autonomy & Responsibility: With no direct reports, you'll have the freedom to focus on managing financial processes and making key decisions across both outdoor and indoor growing sites. It's a rare chance to be the sole finance expert on-site, shaping the direction of the farm's financial operations.

  • Collaborative Culture: You'll work alongside Senior Leadership at the farm and partner with the Procurement and Supply Chain teams at Head Office to align financial strategies with broader business objectives. This role is about teamwork and making sure everyone is working towards the same financial goals.

  • Growth and Impact: If you enjoy driving improvements, this is a fantastic opportunity to support process optimisation projects, cost reviews, and continuous improvements across the farming operations, all while contributing to the company's growth and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full P&L Ownership: Take full ownership of the farm's financial performance, managing the P&L, budget, and long term business plan. Regularly provide analytical insights to track performance.

  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with Senior Leadership on the farm and the Procurement and Supply Chain Director at Head Office to ensure strategic alignment and seamless operations.

  • Enhanced Variance Analysis: Drive a detailed analysis of key financial metrics, such as yield, wastage, labour, and other variable costs, ensuring tight control and informed decision making.

  • Internal Controls: Support the farm team in maintaining efficient and accurate internal controls, including overseeing databases, timesheet management, and forecasting processes.

  • Capex Management: Oversee capital expenditure, ensuring ROI is carefully tracked and evaluated for ongoing project efficiency.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Qualifications: You'll ideally be Part or Fully Qualified ACCA/CIMA

  • Excel: A strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential for this role, and PowerBI skills would be a plus.

  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in WIP (Work-in-Progress) accounting or within the FMCG sector will give you an edge, particularly in managing the variable nature of agricultural operations.

  • Self Starter Mentality: This is an autonomous role where you'll be the primary finance expert on site, so being proactive and self motivated is key.

  • Problem Solving Skills: You'll need to be able to make financial decisions in a constantly changing environment, and the ability to solve problems is critical for success.

  • Adaptability: The role is based in a small office amidst the farm's growing fields, so you'll need to be comfortable working in a hands-on, unpredictable environment where no two days are the same.
