Grower Manager | East Yorkshire
£DOE

We are working on a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Grower who is either at manager level or looking to take the next step to management.

About Our Client
They are a market-leading, independent specialist in ornamental horticulture based in the East Riding of Yorkshire. They use a mix of automated and traditional methods to grow and supply over 1,000 different varieties of plants to national DIY retailers and supermarkets a year. They have invested greatly in their growing site and currently, through the use of automation, it can have over 14 million plants on the floor at any one time and can move over 1 million plants at a time.

About The Role
As Grower Manager, you will be responsible, primarily for overseeing the growing stage of the plants with the assistance of robotics. This will include working on production plans, managing space allocation, crop walking, pest and disease monitoring, crop husbandry and record keeping. Working closely with transplant and sales, orders, and processing departments, you will have an integral role in our production cycle. You will also lead a small team of growers. You will be a natural leader, able to enthuse and motivate and ensure that they are working effectively.

The Ideal Candidate
You will be an experienced grower who has worked in commercial horticulture. We want people who are enthusiastic, flexible, and process-driven and understand the day-to-day pressures of a seasonal business. You will need to be self-motivated and physically able as you can cover a vast growing space each day. You will be keen to take a step up and continue to develop your career.
