Grower Team Leader
Job description
Grower Team Leader
Hertfordshire | Full-time | Permanent | £30,900 - £34,100
Do you have a passion for plants and people?
We're on the lookout for an enthusiastic Grower Team Leader to join one of the UK's leading ornamental plant growers. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll guide a dedicated team, support crop production, and play a key part in ensuring plants thrive and reach customers in top condition.
If you're ready to combine your horticultural know-how with team management skills, this could be the perfect next step in your growing career.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading and motivating a team of growers and operatives to hit targets
- Getting involved in planning and managing daily nursery operations
- Monitoring crop health - spotting pests, diseases, and irrigation needs early
- Supporting with plant protection programmes and stock movements
- Assisting with customer orders, ensuring plants are picked, packed, and delivered to the highest standards
- Keeping accurate records and ensuring smooth processes across the nursery
This is a role where no two days are the same, one moment you'll be crop walking, the next you'll be hands-on with stock movements, and then supporting the team to deliver orders on time.
What We're Looking For
- Previous horticultural or nursery experience (ornamentals ideal, but not essential)
- Strong leadership skills - you can inspire, motivate, and support a team
- A keen eye for detail when it comes to plant health and quality
- Organised and adaptable, with the ability to juggle priorities in a busy nursery environment
- Knowledge of plant protection products (PA1/PA6 is an advantage, but training can be given)
- Someone who enjoys working outdoors and getting stuck in alongside their team
Why You'll Love This Role
- Join one of the UK's most established commercial nurseries
- A chance to lead your own team while still being hands-on with the crops
- Varied work in a supportive and collaborative environment
- Real opportunities for training, growth, and career progression
- Competitive salary and benefits package
